Our Building Process

We pride ourselves in offering what we feel is the best overall package for custom homes in Central Texas. Our goal is to construct the highest quality home at a great price. Another goal we strive for is a high level of customer satisfaction during construction and continues after final closing. To achieve these goals, we have designed the following process to guide you through the home building process.

Initial Meeting

We use this meeting to discover the customer’s needs and provide guidance on the steps to take to meet their needs and get the process started.


We can help with both mortgage and interim construction financing.

Site Selection

Site conditions, water, electric, sewer, drainage among other important items need to be considered when selecting a location to build on.

Home Design

We love to help our customer’s with their home design.  We have many floor plans to choose from, but rarely does a customer find that perfect plan.  We work closely with a home designer to help you create your perfect plan.  You may like different aspects of separate plans and wish to combine them into one plan with a new elevation or you may want to draw new plans.  Depending on the complexity of the project, architects and engineers may need to be included in this process. We have several that we work with on a regular basis.

Pricing and Estimating

Once we have the building site, floor plans and amenities we start the process of determining the price of your home. We have an estimator on staff whose job is to develop a price for your home. We have a questionaire that we will go through together to address the specifics of your home. We compile this information plus bids from our subcontractors to create a proposal.

The Proposal

The proposal states all the specifications to build the home and the price. We review the proposal with the customer to make sure the specifications meet your satisfaction. This document is important in our process because we make it an attachment to the contract and it is used as a construction document.

Color Selections

After the contract is written, we start the color selection process. We have a person on staff to guide you through the process of selecting your brick or rock, shingles, paint, etc., and setting appointments with the different suppliers.

Construction Period

During the construction of your home, John Bowen and/or our field supervisor are continually inspecting your home throughout the building process. You will grow to appreciate our extensive attention to detail.

Final punchouts

We do a thorough check throughout the construction process, but there will be a specific punch list at the slab, framing, prefinal, and final stages of construction that will be developed and completed before moving forward with the next stages. On the prefinal and final punchouts the field supervisor will explain each of the items on the list and also see if you have additional items that you are concerned with. It is Precision Value Homes’ goal to have all punch list items completed by the time of the customer orientation and closing.


Several days prior to closing, Precision Value Homes will give a 1 – 1 1/2 hour orientation on how to maintain and care for the home. Emergency numbers, warranty service procedures, and issues concerning the final closing may also be discussed.

Final Close

When your home is complete we work with you and/or your realtor and lender to set up closing and confirm all the proper documents have been provided to the title company to ensure a timely closing.  You have just completed a long process to build and purchase a new home. We want to make sure the final closing is as stress free as possible and we have the opportunity to say “thank you for your business.”

Warranty Service

All homes come with a one year builder’s warranty, 2 year structural warranty and an American E-Builder 10 year structural warranty. Please contact Precision Value Homes Custom Design and Build Series for more details.
